About The Author

In 1983 I was working as a Pathologist Assistant and Histologic Technologist at a Hospital in Shreveport, La.  It was there I had the idea for my first United States Patented invention:  The Paraffin Bubble and Wrinkle Remover Apparatus.  The device is used to remove artifacts from Paraffin Infiltrated tissues sectioned between 3µ and 6 µ (µ is the symbol for microns.)

Two years later, I was fortunate to receive a second United States Patent by redesigning the original with a more curved bottom.

I’m proud to say my invention has helped millions of patients who have undergone surgical operations for cancer and other malignancies around the world.

In 1985 I composed the following:

The Inventor’s Creed (c) 1985
by William J. Giroir

We do not want to be known as ordinary people. It is our right to be different, original or unconventional if we can.

We search for opportunity, not for utopia.

We refuse to be provided for, and catered to, humiliated and dulled by having our fellow countrymen care for us and our responsibilities.

Instead we will seize the chance to take the calculated risk and face unknown dangers. We will dream and build upon those dreams; we will fail and we will succeed.

We refuse to trade our creativeness for the All-Mighty Dollar. We prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence, the thrill of accomplishment to the stagnant tranquility of a perfect world.

We will not trade our originality to be accommodating nor our pride for charity.

We will never cringe before any threat nor will we bend to any dictator.

It is our family’s tradition to stand erect, proud and unafraid, to think and act for ourselves, to enjoy the benefits of our creations and to face the world boldly and say, “THIS MY INVENTION! This with God’s help I have done!” This is what it means to me to be an American Inventor.

You will find The Inventor’s Creed on page iii of the book.

In 2015 while reading the paper, there was a small, boxed ad for local residents to audition for a part in a movie being filmed here in Louisiana.

I auditioned and was chosen to play “Goose” in the movie “Wendy” (©Search Light Pictures, released 2020.)

As you’ve read, a family member of mine was murdered in 1982.

In 1996 I started following the teachings of the Very Reverend Joyce Meyer and its through the power of prayer I was able to live with the pain.   I said, ‘live with the pain,’ not rid myself of the pain, the hurt, anger and frustration of losing this young man who meant the world to me.

In 2014, 32 years since his death, the pain, hate, anger and frustration with the law authorities was still there.  Not as bad as it used to be, but always just below the skin.

Someone once said, “Problems don’t look so bad when you write them down.”  Accordingly in 2014 I began putting my thoughts and feelings in black and white.  What emerged was the first of many versions of Confessions of a Penitent Man©.  Those drafts were good, but never quite good enough.

I knew I could do better.

Finally in 2022 after hundreds of re-writes, the book passed final inspection.  I applied for and was granted a United States Copyright.

And now, here we are, years later, publishing the book.

Why now?  I had been suffering with the burden of hate and anger buried inside me for over four decades.  If I needed help letting those feelings out, perhaps there are others like me, in need of the same help.

I accomplished this task by creating a plot and characters based on 3 words:  Choice, Commitment and Conflict.  The plot and the characters allowed me to release my anger and hate through their thoughts and deeds.  When a character was punishing another, I could see myself in the guise of that character.  It wasn’t a fictional character torturing another fictional character; it was me torturing the person who killed my relative. In seeing myself dispensing the type of justice I needed to be fulfilled, I was able to release my innermost feelings.  I’m hoping my book will do the same for you.
